Woodturning is a popular and satisfying hobby and you can have 2 or 3 day courses with Nikos Siragas at his house and workshop in beautiful scenery in the hills above Rethymno. One day 'taster' courses are also available at short notice for those who are thinking of taking up woodturning or who want to focus on one particular area.

One of the top turners in the world, Nikos is the only internationally recognized woodturner in Greece and demonstrates and teaches in Europe every year. He is known for his combination of turning and carving to create unique forms.

Nikos has a large, well-equipped workshop with 3 lathes so courses are for a maximum of 3 students. This ensures plenty of individual attention and courses are for beginners, intermediate and advanced students. Nikos works with a wide range of local woods and is very knowledgeable about the whole process from sourcing wood to displaying the finished item in his gallery in Rethymno Old town. Courses cover all aspects of turning, correct tool use and care, safety aspects, practical tips, shape and design, finishing.
